Fauxzen - A former coworker who's moved to Sunny California to escape the doldrums of life in Michigan... bastard!

Gen-Fu! - Steven's (and other's) Tales from the Helpdesk, and a nice zippy local Gentoo mirror.

Greg Thursam - Greg is an ex-roomate and ex-coworker. He no longer owes me $250 like he did at one time, but still needs to post more. :D

irq13 - A guitar-playing metalhead former co-worker. Very cool guy. It's too bad he's so geeked about Cold Fusion.

jerk harris - A friend that's meandered to Chicago in search of new scenery and adventures.

Joe Glass - the site of my old roomate Joe, who I also work with. He's bought a domain name, and is currently in the prcess of setting up the new site.

Mike Watters' page - Mike is another guy I work with. I think that he's a bit obsessed with his Volkswagen and OpenBSD, but that's neither here nor there... :)

phildo.org - Phil's website/blog. I work with Phil. Phil plays guitar. Phil gets me chinese food. Phil is cool. Phil just upgraded to Wordpress.

Wezzul - Another 7pounds co-conspirator. Not Pauly Shore.

Crate Amps - Makers of fine amplification products.

DOD Effects - Effects pedals galore.

Fender - makers of some of the finer guitars around.

Guitar Pro - A sweet piece of software. It offers MIDI accompaniment to a tab, so you can listen to a song while you see what notes are being played. Very cool. Only problem is that it's highly inefficient when it's playing back. Oh well.

Guitar Pro Songbook - A huge archive of Guitar Pro songs.

John Petrucci - I've come to the conclusion that JP is my guitar hero. He's just freakin awesome.

Marshall Amplification - Pretty much the best amps and speaker cabinets money can buy. Marshall Rocks!

OLGA - The OnLine Guitar Archive is your place for tabs for both guitar and bass.

Hosted

Alex's Cellar Door v3.0 - My cousin Alex's website. He's under the delusion that Macs are inherently better than PCs, so let's all point and laugh at him. He's got a pretty cool site going... much better than his old one. Lots of his sketches and drawings here. Really cool stuff. Now if he can stay away from his resolution fascism, he'll be fine.

The Funny Place - My cousin Steve's website. He's been out of the web-game for a while, so he's had to remake the page from scratch.

www.neir.org - My family webpage. I've created a family lineage project and it resides there, along with a few other Neir-oriented things. It also gives me mike.neir.org and mike -at- neir [dot] org. :-D

Humor

BBSpot - A site with a lot of fake "news stories" that provide a lot of laughter, if you're a geek that is.

Ctrl+Alt+Del - Home of a pretty humorous online comic strip loosely based around a video game geek and his circle of friends... pretty funny if you get the references they're making...

Home Star Runner - Home of Strong Bad and The Cheat, and I guess, Home Star Runner. Funny site.

Insultingly Stupid Movie Physics - A site devoted to how bad Hollywood is at depicting real world physics in its movies. I particularly liked the review of Independence Day.

Science Made Stupid - a book made many years ago that is tailored toward my brand of humor - word play, and endless sarcasm. This is a must see.

Something Awful - a hilarious site, mostly for geeks, but humor for all can be found here.

The Mystery of Britney Spears' Breasts - This is a funny one, and quite perplexing too!

The Official Ninja Webpage - this is absolutely stupid, and totally hilarious.

Linux

Gentoo - The coolest Linux distribution of the moment.

Gentoo Forums - The place to go if you have any questions or trouble installing/configuring/using Gentoo.

MythTV - MythTV is a personal video recorder program that functions in a manner similar to Tivo, but is a hell of a lot cooler, and free.

Prism54.org - These guys/gals make the open source driver for the wireless Prism card that I have built into my laptop. Ever since I installed their driver, I've had zero issues with the wireless card, which wasn't the case with the DriverLoader setup.

Miscellaneous

Why Geek Guys Rule - pay attention ladies! this describes me! :)

Music

Alice In Chains - One of my favorite bands. Layne Staley's passing definitely slowed them down, but the band seems to be ready to play on again. That makes me happy.

Amorphis - A highly talented progressive metal band from the great country of Finland.

anthrax.com - The official Anthrax website. The band, not the germ. The band is much much cooler anyways.

Beatatallica - This is hilarious... a spoof band playing songs that sound like the beatles played by metallica... great stuff.

Black Label Society - Zakk Wylde's band away from Ozzy. Just about anything with Zakk Wylde in it will rule, even that Marky Mark movie.

Children of Bodom - A sweet old-schoolish metal band from Finland. The vocals pretty much suck, but the music is top notch. Defintely gets the blood moving.

Chimaira - A new favorite band of mine. Go pick up their new album "Chimaira" (self-titled) right now. It's awesome.

Clutch - Awesome southern-style hard rock with some tripped out lyrics.

DreamTheater.net - The official site for Dream Theater, who are currently my favorite band by far...

Evergrey - A sweet metal band from Sweden. They have a heavy prog-ish metal sound, and they kick ass with the best of them.

Fear Factory - Some seriously heavy music. They had a bit of a lineup change recently, so it'll be interesting to see how their sound holds up.

Iced Earth - Iced Earth has become one of my favorite bands. They rock the proverbial house. They're old school Metal with a melodic twist and a hell of a lot of phat guitars. I'm making it a mission of mine to introduce as many people to them as possible, because they're far too sweet to be as unheardof as they are.

Iron Maiden - The primary influence for all of my favorite metal bands, and they're quickly becoming one of my favorites too.

Lacuna Coil - A sweet goth-ish metal band from Italy. They have a hot vocalist with a great voice, which is, well... hot. Their sound is really big too.

Mastodon - Take the offbeat musicality of Tool and roughen it up a bit and you get Mastodon. They've got a very eccentric style, yet very cool at the same time.

megadeth.com - The official Megadeth website. Dave Mustaine disbanded the band for a while, but they're back together now. Their past few records have been pretty hit and miss, but they're still sweet live.

Meshuggah - Crazy technical metal. These guys sound like the audio version of a complicated math problem, which is great if you love math like I do.

Metal Underground - A site that I read to keep up on the latest happenings in metal.

Nevermore - Another sweet band from the Seattle area. Their mastery of the 7-string sound is quite astounding.

Opeth - Opeth is a study of opposites. One minute they're laying down thunderous riffs in the truest of metal form with growling vocals that would frighten a rabid pit-bull, and the next their sound is quiet and melodic, with soft and soothing vocals that wouldn't be out of place on an easy listening station. If you heard the two sounds seperately, you'd never think they were being produced by the same band. But when you do hear one style flow effortlessly into the other, you begin to realize how incredibly talented this Swedish quintet is, and you can only want more.

Pantera - The Cowboys From Hell are coming for you! Well, that's what the song says anyways. They're probably not coming for you in actuality. They're probably just playing their instruments (really freakin well) and being all tough.

Queensryche - Coolest band from Seattle behind Alice In Chains. Geoff Tate's voice is amazing.

RATM.com - the official Rage Against The Machine homepage.

S L A Y E R - The official Slayer website. Go here and see how scary Kerry King is.

Shadows Fall - Finally! A new American metal band that can play solos! And harmonies! Yippee!!!

The Testament Legions - Official website for Testament. Go there, because in the words of someone on the site, "Chuck Billy is hella tough", and if you don't visit, he'll probably hunt you down and kick your ass.

WRIF online - The homepage for my favorite hometown radio station. Lots of cool stuff.
