Save the Internet!

The internet as we know it is in danger. Congress will soon be voting on a telecommunications bill that, in its current state, would allow ISPs to alter the service they provide in a way that can intentionally hamper or completely block any content that they choose. The de-facto standard of Network Neutrality currently prevents this. Why would they do this you ask? Profit. It is the concern of many (myself included) that if this bill passes in its current form, large ISPs such as Comcast, Verizon, and AT&T will take advantage of this new ruleset in order to steer people towards content and services provided by themselves or business partners and hamper those that don’t pony up and pay.

This is quite distressing to me since my living is made on the internet. This behavior could lead to hardship for many of the smaller businesses that my company provides service for. Hardship for them means hardship for us.

Please spread the word and do what you can to get the message through to your elected representatives that removing network neutrality is a BAD idea. The following links describe the situation in much more detail, and give many more reasons why this is would be a very bad thing if came to pass.

This is something I consider very important. Please take the time to read over some of the above material and do what you feel is right.
